We love the freedom of wearing a backpack properly. Hands free, balanced weight, no bag flopping off your shoulder every time you reach for your bag. When they work they’re functional in a way that elevates your day rather than sacrifices style for practicality. The issue is most backpacks marketed towards women seem to autumn into one of two extremes. Too many focus on being overly practical with rugged features better suited to a campground than your commute. Others are too small and embellished to carry much more than your handbag and lip balm. We’ve never found either of those scenarios useful so this edit has been carefully curated. We are most interested in the styles that exist between these two extremes; that work as Backpacks but also sit comfortably within your everyday wardrobe. Things like; A structured leather backpack that wouldn’t look out of place in an office. A big canvas style that allows you to pack everything you need for a long haul flight but doesn’t make you look like you’re Casa-losing. Or A small yet still practical option that can sit alongside you on a café stool or come into restaurants without dominating the table. Proportion was key here too. It makes more of a difference than most people realise. Too large and it can look sloppy. Too small and it looks thrown together. The backpacks that feel right strike a balance, appearing almost tailored; as though someone has considered how and by who they will be worn. We’ve included some softer, ‘slouchier’ styles for when that’s the vibe you’re going for. Others are more slick and architectural when you want the bag to make a design statement. Expect neutral colours that will sit easily within your existing wardrobe but a few standout styles when you want your bag to be centre stage. Every backpack in this edit has been included because we would wear it. Not just when we’re backpackless and have no other choice but as something we’d genuinely reach for. It’s a small difference but makes all the difference.
