There is a specific feeling when an outfit clicks into place and oversized sunglasses are responsible for more of those moments than they get credit for. A good pair does not just protect your eyes. What we look for is shape first. A frame that works with rather than against bone structure, that feels considered rather than accidental. Tortoiseshell that has real depth to it. Black that is genuinely opaque and not a little grey around the edges. Lenses that are dark enough to mean something. We are also paying attention to weight because a pair that slides down your nose all afternoon is not finishing anything off except your patience.
