Made of fine silk satin in gold, I’m sure this dress would like to go to a party again! Unlabeled, I can only guess it was seamstress-made. The era would have to be about 1958-1960, when the bubble skirt was very fashionable. The dress’s bodice has side boning & is lined in the same silk satin. The front has a sweetheart contour, & a bow decorates the center front. The top of the dress angles down to the back. There is a wide ruffle around the top. There are only vertical seams through the waist, no horizontal seam, & the fabric is cut in flaring panels to make that full skirt, which then tapers down to the hem. Additional hem darts bring in the fullness. Inside the skirt portion of the dress is Pellon interfacing & there is an attached crinoline of sized (stiffened) muslin & tulle; the tulle is attached in tiers around the muslin. Long back metal zipper. CONDITION: Just back from my eco-friendly (non-perc dry cleaner) the dress is in just good condition. Fortunately a number of small stains lessened greatly. You can see the spots in the final photos. These are not terribly apparent, especially the water mark stains, which are very subtle. SIZE: XS to small by my estimate, about a US size 2 to 4.
