This is a lovely early 1970s Laura Ashley cotton dress. It is ankle length & trapeze shaped from a fitted bodice, empire waist, to a semi full, tiered skirt. It has a high, edwardian style neckline. It also has short puff sleeves which are elasticated a few inches above the sleeve opening. You can push them higher to make the sleeves puff more or pull them slightly down for less. It has crochet trim in a square around the neck & the sleeves. The fabric is a printed cotton, which Laura Ashley was famous for. The colour is a deep peachy pink on a white background. The white is a tiny, floral ditsy print. As you stand farther back from the dress, the white & pink merge & it looks a paler pink. It is labelled. The label is a Made in Wales Dyers & Printers label which dates this to the early 1970s. It is also labelled size 12. That will be vintage & UK size. Please go by the measurements. it is modelled by Faye who measures 34-25-35. It zipped up but was a bit tight in the bust, but then Faye has a solid bust with no give. It would probably be better on a 34 bust human. It measures 34 at the bust, 32 at the high empire waist, 36 at the waist & free at the hips. The shoulders are 13.5 inches wide. It is 53 inches long down the centre back excluding the collar. There is no hem allowance. The dress is in very good, clean condition. I recently washed it. The only thing to note is a series of faint spots down the back (photo 10). I put some stain remover on when I washed this, but nothing too strong as I didn’t want it to affect the print, but with no success. They are faint & hard to see & do get lost in the folds of the fabric & print. They may fade over time or may not. Please zoom in on the photos & feel free to ask any questions.
