Darling 1920s silk sleeveless drop waist in a pale yellow . . . Shoulder drapes in back with V drape at front neck that repeats in the skirt at the front ruffles. Asymmetrical hem in front on the last ruffle. Ruffled skirt in front. Bias hem for flounce & levity. Silk with what appears to be a cotton lining with French seams. Shown on a 33-24-34 dress from which it fit really well with enough ease & flounce. – Measurements are in inches & are taken with the garment lying flat & doubled (We have not accounted for ease): Bust: 38 Waist: 38 Hip: 40 Arm opening: 18.5 Length, back neck to hem: 37.5 Dress form: 33-24-34 – Condition . . . lovely, ready to wear with minor condition issues to share . . . We found several tiny holes in the silk chiffon. We found on the left shoulder drape (back) a spot that you will see in the photographs. We found a mend, what appears to be an over sew at the left top of the back of the neck. You will see a photograph of it. We assume that there must be a little tear in the chiffon. Located right at the back neck so it does not draw much attention to itself. Often when we look at vintage garments we assume perfection in the tailoring. This dress while beautifully made with French seams & bias hem has flaws, imperfections in the sewing. One such flaw is found at the back of the drop waist. One would assume that where the skirt meets the bodice the lining & the shell would be of the same length. in this instance it appears not to be the case & it is unclear whether this was intentional, to give a little fold, a bit of flounce at the back of the drop waist. When on the dress form it looks meant to be yet when on the ironing board it looks more like a flaw than something intentional. You be the judge.
